Celebrating 30 years of effective youth development in South Africa
The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment is a registered non-profit organisation, which has been operating in South Africa since 1983 and is affiliated to the Duke of Edinburg’s International Award, which operates in over 140 countries around the world.

I was one of 270 Gold Award recipients and was fortunate and honoured to meet and greet their Royal Highnesses the Earl And Countess of Wessex and his Excellency President Jacob Zuma.

My name is Keenan Hendricks I am Chrysalis graduate since 2011, I was first introduced to the President’s Award in 2011 at Chrysalis where I have developed a love and passion for the out-doors and Youth Development after receiving my Bronze President’s Award.  I have been fortunate enough to continue my involvement in adventure based learning with Chrysalis Academy where I voluntary take part in their out-door activities.

I am also active in the community assisting with brigade practices and competitions. In August 2012 I received my Silver President’s Award continuing being active at Chrysalis and in my personal capacity. It has been a tough journey sacrificing being away from your family on occasions and being away from the comfort of your home. I have learnt a lot of life lessons and gained various skills. With these skills I am able to implement and facilitate various workshops with Youth Groups.

The 10 October 2013 marks the day when finally I got my Gold President’s Award and a whole new journey begins for me with endless opportunities.
