The Hout Bay Music Series, a community based concept centred on a passion for local music with a
heart for giving back, will launch its first picnic-style event on the picturesque GlenEllen Farm on Saturday 11th April 2015.

With a focus on activating tangible change, the music series will encompass a set fundraising
component to every event, directly supporting Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) in the local
Hout Bay community as well as the larger Cape region.

Following the recent raging fires along the Mother City’s south peninsula, event organisers aptly
themed the first event in the series FireUnite, in an effort to raise funds for the Cape of Good Hope
SPCA Wildlife Unit, the Volunteer Wildfire Services (VWS) and Thrive Hout Bay – a team that will
assist in the restoration of the natural vegetation in the area.

Event goers can look forward to a star-studded line-up as some of South Africa’s hottest bands
entertain family and friends alike under an African sky.  The line-up includes celebrated bands such
as Just Jinger, Bed on Bricks and McCree.

“The series will form an integral part of supporting organisations in need. The platform exists as a
lively, multifaceted and engaging medium attracting actionist behaviour, prompting real and
meaningful change,” says Donna Mathews of the Hout Bay Music Series.

The event will host the fire fighters and members of the SPCA team as VIP guests to celebrate and
honour their valiant efforts and tireless commitment to the City during a dire time of need.

Tickets can be purchased at R260 per ticket online at http://www.citysoiree.co.za/events/hout-bay-
music-series/. R50 of each ticket sale – with the hope of raising R100 000 – will go to the three NGOs who have been chosen as beneficiaries. Children under the age of 12 enter free, but please be sure to book for your child as space is limited. For corporate pledges, please email Donna Mathews at: donna@ilovefabulous.com

About the Hout Bay Music Series:

Started as a passion inspired concept, the Hout Bay Music Series is a platform that brings together
the best in South African Music with the heart of the series being the opportunity to give back to
communities and causes in need. The vision of the music series is to create a long standing family,
picnic-style event once a month on a Saturday afternoon during the Summer months with two –three top bands entertaining the crowd whilst simultaneously creating local employment and raising funds for NGOs in need. Each event will focus on an immediate need and will be themed accordingly with FireUnite being the first in the series. The next event themed KidsUnite will support NGOs who

work closely with children in need – once again three beneficiaries will be selected.  The team hopes to have more brand sponsors secured for upcoming events in order to reduce ticket sales to R180 per ticket whilst maintaining the R50 per ticket to sponsor an NGO model.
