Successful candidates will be part of a high-energy solution that has helped hundreds of emerging entrepreneurs to accelerate their success. The two-year programme offers expert mentorship, skills training workshops, access to markets, and qualified investment-readiness support. Participants develop improved confidence and business skills that enable them to make their businesses sustainable in the long term.

Thabiso Makhubo is a youth entrepreneur from the Vaal Triangle who is making good progress on the programme. His company, Fool Force Wear, manufactures clothing and other corporate items for local businesses in the Vaal, Orange Farm and Soweto area. Living with a disability has not stopped Thabiso from following his dream of being an entrepreneur.

Thabiso is learning how to be his own boss in consultation with his mentor.There are currently more than 100 small entrepreneurs around the country who are learning the business skills that enable long-term business sustainability. The SAB Foundation supports black-owned small enterprises that benefit or are run by women, the youth, as well as those living in rural and peri-urban areas. Entrepreneurs with disability are particularly encouraged to apply.

Eligibility criteria:

  • The business is black-owned and managed
  • The business is operational
  • The business is headquartered and registered (if applicable), within South Africa's borders
  • The business is a going concern, commercially sustainable and viable
  • The owner is involved in daily operations and management on a full-time basis, and is not employed by any other organisation
  • The business owner has the skills and experience necessary for the type of business in which s/he is engaged
  • The business is in the early stages of growth, running for more than six months but less than five years
