World Aids Day 2017

On the 1st December 2017 Marang a Letsatsi OVC in collaboration with Kuyasa Library and ChildLine commemorated the World Aids Day (WAD)
During the programme Mr Lungelo Masiza from Marang A Letsatsi educated the audience about HIV/Aids, what it is, how is it transmitted, who is at risk, how can it be prevented, what treatment is available ?
Ms Z Duze a care giver educated the audience about HIV prevention, and encouraged the use of condoms both by male and females. She demonstrated the use of the infamous female condom and encouraged women to make use of it . She mentioned that treatment is freely available and the pills have been reduced from a cocktail to one which makes it easier for those infected.
Mr F. Hlangana Master of ceremonies and the librarians Lungelwa and Thuletu showered the audience with freebies with the assistance of Phamela Simangala and Asanda Mcelu, as Fezile asked HIV/AIDS related questions pertaining to the teachings of the day.
Nkosinathi Meyi assistant librarian entertained children with games & rhymes.
Ms Bongi from Childline educated children about children sexual abuse which may also lead to the transmission of HIV, children were taught on how to report any form of abuse via the ChildLine call.
The Voluntary HIV Counselling and Testing was done concurrently with the programme and about 30 people were tested on site and 95 people where attended the function.
A delicious lunch was served!
The entire function was sponored by SACBC (Southern African Catholic Bishops' Conference).
