2017 #Mandela Day #Action Against Poverty
Fight poverty this Mandela Day and give your 67 minutes to people recovering from serious mental illnesses at Valkenberg Hospital. Join one of our 3 projects and grab a team to collect food, clothing or unwanted goods for our Second Hand Shop.
These services not only provide vital practical assistance to recovery, but also promote dignity and self-esteem, which are essential for getting people back on their feet.
For further information, please refer to the projects below and contact the office to sign up: Gail 021-4472092 (mornings)
WINTER FOOD STOCK COLLECTION
Friends of Valkenberg are in need of non--perishable foods (sugar, tea, coffee, box milk, dried soup mix, rice, pasta, maize meal, tins of veg/meat, instant noodles, jam, peanut butter etc) for food parcels for those in need.
The project supports patients who are either going home for a weekend or being discharged from the Hospital and who are impoverished and/or waiting for their disability grants to come through.
Through its 60 volunteers, the Friends of Valkenberg Trust works in conjunction with hospital staff to provide a range of services designed to bring hope and comfort to patients during their stay at Valkenberg Psychiatric Hospital; meeting needs and helping patients along the road to recovery.
MEN’S WINTER CLOTHING WARMER COLLECTION
Help Friends of Valkenberg bring warmth as well as dignity and renewed self-esteem to 350 + male patients staying at Valkenberg Hospital.

SPRING CLEAN FOR RECOVERY
