Image: Young performers shine for the first time on the Zip Zap stage Zip Zap Circus School celebrated 25 years with a fantastical show last Saturday.

Image: Green Jobs for Mahogany Ridge community Paarl Media pledged R100 000 to Wildlands, to support their “Greening your Future” programme.

This will  help grow the local green economy within the Mahogany Ridge community. The team of six helped ensure the Mahogany Ridge riverine ecosystem was kept in an optimal state to prevent flooding and curtail climate change. They were  employed in full-time positions dedicated to restoration and conservation, focused on clearing alien vegetation and landscaping the cleared areas by planting suitable indigenous trees.   Read More...

It was so exciting to watch some of our young children being interviewed for SABC TV this month. Not because they were on TV per se, but because they spoke so clearly using well formulated sentences … some even answering in English! This confidence would never have been possible 3 years ago! Twelve students from Ntafufu Senior Secondary School, located in the community of Lusikisiki, in the rural Eastern Cape, experienced their first time on a plane last week. The trip to London, also the first time any of them had been overseas, was organised by London-based educational exchange charity  BOTH (Broaden Out Their Horizons) and supported by global travel search platform Cheapflights, whose staff fundraised the costs required to fly the Ntafufu students over for the exchange.   Read More...

Their objective is to make a difference in the lives of child cancer patients in South Africa.
Cupcakes of Hope, a non-profit company dedicated to raising awareness and funds for childhood cancer in South Africa, will channel its love for baking into the fight against cancer ahead of International Childhood Cancer Awareness Day on 15 February 2017, by hosting and facilitating fund-raising events, hospital visits and their signature ‘Party of Hope’ around the country.   Read More...

The clean-up crews were on-site on these days from 6am – 8am. CCPB regularly organises beach clean-ups in an effort to contribute towards environmental sustainability. Image: Team Dimension Data for Qhubeka meets Kylemore learners A big day for 158 people in Kylemore in Western Cape province. Tthey will also take ownership of their brand new Qhubeka bicycles

This distribution will see 100 grade 6 and 7 learners at PC Peterson Primary School receiving bicycles, as well as 47 grade 11s from Kylemore Secondary, eight Wildlands staff and three Kylemore  Secondary staff. These learners and staff members are part of a Qhubeka project called SHIFT Education, run in partnership with Wildlands. Other parties involved include the Stellenbosch Municipality, the Western Cape Department of Transport and local bicycle shop, BMT, which has been providing safety and maintenance support.   Read More...
