With a vision to build a " country that works for all ", Symphonia for South Africa has committed itself to working alongside all stakeholders to ‘quality education for all children in South Africa by 2022.’
Within the S@CC initiative, several programmes have been established. The two most active to date are:
- Partnerships for Possibility (PfP) - which pairs school principals with business executives in a two-way learning relationship. Business leaders and school principals develop their leadership skills in a co-learning and co-operative partnership. The project engages students, teachers, parents and the broader community and has resulted in schools experiencing an upward spiral of real change and a sense of possibility. This project is accredited by the Department of Business and Finance at the University of the Western Cape on a NQF level 6.
- There are currently 71 (and growing) partnerships in operation in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg. We aim to roll out this programme to 120 schools in provinces throughout South Africa before the end of 2012. The programme is funded by organisations to the value of R38 000 per partnership, which carries the cost of both the business leader and principal.
- Community of Learning Principals (CoLP) - which partners with the University of the Western Cape and the SA Principals Association to offer leadership and management training (at a NQF 6 level) to school principals and leaders from throughout the Western Cape.
